What’s SHIP?
The State Housing Initiatives Partnership program, or SHIP, serves low and moderate income families (example a single person making up to $58,080 in Broward County, Florida). Its primary purpose is to make homeownership affordable.
Florida Housing administers the program in Florida and issues grants to 67 counties and 52 Community Development Block Grant entitlement cities in the state. Local governments use these funds to create programs that reduce housing costs, keep rent prices low, and assist people with home purchases and repairs. The program allows home buyers to put as little as one percent (1%) of their own fund down when purchasing a home.
You can use this program and others like it to offset some of the costs that come with buying a house, including closing costs, and at least part of your mortgage down payment. With our service, you’ll get access to all of the grants that are available in your local area.
